Spring Christmas

Morning flowers Margaritas Dawn of Spring

I'm very excited today because of course its the first day of Spring! Last night it was almost as if it was christmas, as a special celebration I baked some Spring themed cupcakes. There will be pictures later. I used melted white chocolate to draw flowers which I then placed on top.

Was it just me or did the air smell different as well?

Spring has got me all buzzed up with turning the house into a domestic bliss, cleaning, ironing, and sorting out all that clutter! I've also been busy drawing and painting away preparing a portfolio which explains the lack of communication.

Tomorrow will be stressful with exams all day, and then half the next day. Hopefully all goes well.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring today!

Today

This is how I feel today.

Alone. I don't want to be negative, especially considering I haven't posted anything for so long. But today I feel as though I'm stuck on a one way path. I can't escape from it.

I'm exhausted in every way. I'm sick, again.

Tomorrow will be better. I hope. I need to get out and start getting creative again.

I am in awe of...

Emily Gravett

She is one of the most inspiring illustrators I have come across and yesterday I rushed out and bought one of her books to help give me some ideas about visual art diaries and what to put in them.

"
They are about getting lost in the moment. They can be exciting, or challenging, sad, or soothing, but all at the child’s pace. They can be picked up, put down, carried around and re-read hundreds of times. There’s no other medium like them." - From an Interview with Emily.

This is the book I bought yesterday! And I love it!

Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears - By Emily Gravett (buy here)

The illustrations are simple yet complex with a variety of different textures and fold out parts, I had so much fun looking through the whole book, and I'm having trouble deciding which to get next!

Sneak Peak illustrations can be found through her website here.

A little bit unsure

I don't know that I'll be able to keep this up, but a new blog, a new header and a first post.
Already I need to update the list of my favourite bloggers and hopefully can become part of an amazing community of artsy types that I read about so often.
Maybe I'll be inspired along the way.
